If it's ok I'm going to answer this if you're question was asked about a woman because I believe men and women are equals.

Caring isn't the problem. In today's world two solid incomes absolutely matter if you don't want to struggle in paying bills if you are to become married or really committed relationship. The days where one salary, typically the man's, covering everything is no longer possible for 90 percent or more of people.

The other side of this is that men have dealt with this for far longer than women have. It's understandable now in the past 20 years to see women feel the pain mainly only men did when meeting someone because men were the typical breadwinners.

Today, I do feel if you're going to get serious with someone finances need to come up. I don't know if most men or women can afford to have a partner not be willing to try to bring in as much as they physically can. You can love someone for them and still expect them to contribute. So caring about a financial future is ok if you're trying to bring as much as you can to the table as well.

If I found out I was dating someone who expected me to take care of them because they don't want to work it would be a huge turn off. I'd expect a hard working woman to feel the same way if roles are reversed in this example.

Yes it is tough to make it nowadays in a marriage, with only one income. Especially if the couple wants to own a house and have some of the comforts of life, as well as extra money for vacations, etc. So both the husband and wife working creates a more financially stable life for both. That, and if one gets laid off their job, at least there is the income coming in from the other spouse until the other finds a job.

None of my friends or I have ever cared about how much money a woman makes. Usually only women use income as a dating criteria.

He can know but like then what it only matters what his plan is. If I expect the same transparency then I don't mind to share what I expect to make. Your spouse finds out what job you do you can google what my salary is based on my title I'm either making less or more then the result, but it's not a huge gap.

Very few men care how much money a woman makes, because it's very rare for a woman to share any of her income with her man.

If a man is concerned about your income, that's certainly a potential red flag. Now, if he's concerned about your debt, your credit rating, or your spending habits, THAT is reasonable if you are looking for a committed relationship.

I always like to say I don't care how much she makes so much as I care about her views on money. To me money is a tool, a necessary evil. I'm a saver. Material things really don't motivate me. I save for security. It affords me peace of mind. The woman for me is one who thinks somewhat similar to that.

I don't think that how much someone makes matters, but that they are stable. I don't want to be with someone who has a low credit score, simply because they can't hold a job. I don't care if he makes less than me or more than me, just be stable and not have 30 jobs a year.
