If I see something I know she'd love, I'll buy it for her because I have the opportunity. Chances are that I won't run across it again.
Also, my wife and I don't wait for special occasions to give each other gifts, so we don't make a big deal of giving gifts on special occasions. We might just acknowledge the occasion with a small token and/or card. Something that shows we were thinking of each other.
Then again, we usually do something special for each other's birthdays and our anniversary. But those things are usually activities rather than things.

No I would buy it for for them because if it's something that they like and it's something that they're looking for sometimes those are hard to find so you have to buy it why you it's there in front of you depending number it is you might never get that opportunity again for a while
