u Occasional random surprises. We live together so I know what she likes. She also grew up in relative poverty in China and I know she is very reluctant to spend money on herself, so I buy her some lavish things like a royal blue evening dress with a silver, shiny/glittery wrap, and coordinated shoes. I just don't let her see the price tags. Something like that she may not wear many times but I know what it does for her self-confidence.

Absolutely random surprises at random times. Because just because. And it's wonderful to be out and see X thing and say "so and so would love that" and get it!
I buy gifts even if there's no special occasions. When I see an item in the mall that I think he'll probably like or will look good on him, I'd buy it and wrap it to give it to him. My boyfriend does not dislike surprises and I'm a giver lover typa person
I buy him random stuff. Sometimes I'll be o line or at the mall and come across something that reminds me of him and I'll get it. Sometimes a shirt, or random figurine, sweatpants, etc. Big gifts I leave for his birthday and Christmas

Both. I like to shower my girl in affection. If she looks like she needs a new phone case I'll buy her 3. Just out of the blue. If there's something she needs I'll buy that too.

I'll buy friends random gifts out of the blue, not just a partner. When I see something that makes me think of a friend, I'll buy it and send it. To me gifts have more meaning when not paired with an expected occasion
Yes absolutely ! I find it trope that you can only give gifts during the holidays or on birthdays why not make it a year round thing? Small surprises it dosent have to be anything extravagant, it's the sentiment and thought which is most important.
sometimes i used to do that. never got much back in return (no doesn't have to be a gift in return)... so i stopped. now all holidays give me ptsd.
