Is it okay for a girl to break a date if she gets a better offer?

The following happened at a summer camp at Camp Wildwood last summer. I believe it was a girl in my cabin since I heard my camp counselor telling about it. Counselors are mostly college students.

A boy asked a girl to go with him to banquet in the city on the last night of camp before they left the next day and she accepted. Then she was asked by the boy she wanted to go with and she asked the counselor what she should do. The counselor told her she should go with the first boy. However, she went with the second boy and hurt the feeling of first boy.

I believe I know the answer but I want your opinions. Was it okay that she went with the second boy? After all they probable lived in different cities and likely she would never see either boy again.

As a guy if I asked out a girl and she had already committed to a date before hand and she bailed on them i would be a lot less attracted to her that's cheating behaviour.

The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. You can break the date. But I recommend you don’t tell him why. Just say you are not feeling it. Boys his age aren’t going to feel too good knowing what’s really up.

However you will never know just on looks alone what you could of missed out on. Sure this other guy is probably better looking. But you don’t know how this can turn out.

Regardless, no matter what excuse she gives, at the banquet, he is going to see her with other boy. And, of course, he did.

Lol. Well I know some people talk about other people in 3rd person when it’s really themselves. They don’t others guilting them if they made a bad decision. Not saying you did this but just saying.

This is called hypergamy, women will change their minds quite often if there's an offer from a more appealing male. It gets worse as you get older. While I believe you should honor your word; I can imagine if she goes on the date with the first guy she will resent herself for not taking the more attractive offer and end up being a bored and disinterested date. On the other hand, what if he ends up being the funny and charming catch and the other guy is a dud? She can never know unless she dates both of them.

A lot of women get choice paralysis and don't settle down to get married until they're 30ish when they're about to hit the wall of their fertility window. Biology and human nature hasn't changed at all in thousands of years, just the options and the rules to the game of love.

What goes around comes around & it would be funny if the second boy canceled on the girl & the girl went to the banquet alone & the first boy went with another girl.

The girl should of went with the counselors suggestion on this one.

If that girl already agreed to go with the first dude she should’ve went with him. That’s just the most respectable thing to do you shouldn’t blow off something because something else pops up even if you prefer the second one.

We date; just not the triditional date where a boy pick us up and takes us to movie or out to dinner. Even if we wanted to, that wouldn't be practical because are not allowed to drive and will not be for several years. Most of my dates are group dates but sometimes as a couple. For example, a youth sporting event which is something my parents would take me to.

Since that is what almost all girls do, it should be expected. Even if a girl goes on a date with you she will ignore you to flirt with a guy she finds more attractive. She may even tell you he is taking her home and both have happened to me. Therefore, I suppose it is okay since it is better than paying for a date that flirts with or goes home with another guy.

It shows that she is a user and when she has relationships she will be looking to "trade up" whenever someone else interests her. She won't be loyal in relationships.

It was last year and if she was in my cabin she would have been age 13 or younger. Perhaps that too early to say what she will do as an adult. And, she did ask the counslor indicating she at least had some reversations. And, the boy she liked may have talked her into going with him Of course, I don't know that.
