Should I get jealous of my girlfriend's celeb crushes?

Recently my girlfriend told me she really liked Tom Cruise's body (even more than my own body and I'm pretty well built). I took it badly and assumed that she must want me to look like him. How should I deal with situations like these that invoke jealousy in general?

Be with someone who thinks you’re the bestest, most handsome guy in the world. Not someone you compares you to another guy, belittles you against him and let’s not forget - is looking and perving in him in the first place.

Personally, I don’t believe you should have eyes for anyone else while in a relationship. I think you should keep your eyes to yourself and look towards your girlfriend/boyfriend. I would expect nothing less from a guy I was dating.

But not only is she looking at other guys (you could be okay with that, personally I’m not) - she’s comparing you to them and putting you down against them. That is not okay. That is incredibly hurtful and I would be so hurt by that.

If she was a nice girl who really cared about you, she would think you’re the most handsome thing there is. Doesn’t matter if Tom Cruise is more jacked, taller or handsome, she should think you’re the best. That’s how I feel about someone I really like.

It’s perfectly okay to set those standards for yourself. You deserve to feel safe, secure and loved in a relationship. Set that standard for yourself and don’t take any less.

Forget what everyone else is saying, you shouldn’t have to live like that or settle for that. You’re young.

I sincerely think there’s nothing wrong in having preferences, especially towards celebrities. I don’t think you have to be jealous since she hasn’t said you don’t have a nice body, she simply appreciates Tom Cruises’.
Lets say it’s impossible to achieve a perfect body (or have perfect characteristics), there will be always someone with better ones, you should deal with it.

The issue is.. when I said "I have a pretty good body myself, she said "well how many abs do you have?" And that made it seem like as if all she cared about was abs

That’s pretty mean to say, I thought she had only expressed her opinion. It’s lame of her to make such comparison without appreciating you. No one is perfect but love means also respect and appreciation, seems she doesn’t appreciate you for who you are.

How would she react if you started saying you think X actress has a great body? If she would get mad, then she's an inconsistent person. But if not, then talk to her about how your ideas of crushing on other people differs from hers - it's not "wrong" if both people agree it's ok, but certainly a source of conflict if your opinions differ there. Bro chill, people can like other things outside of their partner. My ex's crushes were Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan and Tom Hiddleston. I look nothing like those guys, two of them are built, and they are all tall and white men. I'm a 5'6 skinny black guy, and I was unbothered by her crushes.
