The real truth is that people are hypocrites. While we like to believe ourselves to be morally superior to others, oftentimes we commit the same grievances that we so previously condemned, because nobody is inescapably "perfect". Let's take a look at it through the lens of your question though—just because they condemn fatphobia, that does not mean they can't have preferences. I don't think it's morally correct to shame someone for their weight, but I do want to date someone who is physically fit enough to engage in the outdoor activities I enjoy. It is also in the biological level, a harem for alpha gorillas are constructed because they fit the mold of what an ideal mate should be.

I feel like women are more likely to date fat men. Women rely mainly on their looks, while men can seduce through a sense of humor. That’s why you see comedians with basically super models.

The fatphobia thing is more on guys. A large woman still believes any guy is accessible, in the online dating world because she is getting hit up, but often for sex.

If a large guy is daring, he has something going on. He is not getting by being a average guy and fat. He has a great charming personality, he has status and or a fat wallet.

Because it's a double standard they hold. They want to have certain rights and fit into the "beauty standard" as bigger women, but don't really care if those rights extend to others. Also, they want to be able to date good looking and fit men while looking however they want. This might be a mean answer, but I think there's some truth to it unfortunately.

If we advocate against fat phobia or shaming fat people, it should include fat men as well.
