Can working out together be a date?

I think for a certain 'type' it can be.

Don't get me wrong... personally... that is about the worst possible date I can imagine. I am not a guy who goes to the gym. Since I'm not a guy who goes to the gym, that's a goddamn nightmare for ME.

But tons of people LOVE going to the gym. (or working out). It's an activity which brings they joy. If a guy like that, and a girl like that went out on a date... I think working out together could work just fine.

Just... make sure the other person is as keen on working-out as you.

I guess I can't KNOW... but I feel like I'd turn-down a girl I liked if she asked me on a date working out together. Maybe not... but I'd at least consider it.

As a guy that goes to the gym every day, I’d say it depends on what the workout is going to be for the day. If it’s a normal heavy lifting session at the gym, I like to keep those sessions focused, intense, and efficient. I don’t talk because I’m in the zone. They could join if they want, but I wouldn’t consider that a date—it would just be keeping me company before the REAL date afterward.

However, if I’m doing like a hike on a weekend for some cardio, that’s wonderful setting for a date, or maybe even a run on a nice trail. 🤙

I don't know why it couldn't be a date. It's in a public area (if you're at the gym), and it's something that both of you enjoy.

No. Something like a workout is just quality time together. There’s a difference between quality time and a date. A date is a romantic, memorable, meaningful period of time spent together. That’s why they are usually reserved for the weekends. Quality time is more like hanging out, which is what a workout is when done together. Now if both of you find working out together to be romantic… I guess that could be considered a date? But who finds working out to be good for emotional bonding?
