+1 yHere's my take. Dating on apps keeps an invisible barrier between the two of you. When you find you don't like someone, it's never a problem because they don't know where your house is, they don't have your phone number, they don't have any information on you outside of what you told them (and what you've posted on social media). Therefore, that invisible barrier still exists. Because of this, some (not all) girls get even pickier with there choices and don't give many guys the chance to break that barrier. Flip the script, say one of these girls gets asked out in real life. Well, if she feels safer behind a screen, what will stop her from saying "no" before actually getting to know something about the guy? Apps cause people to become more timid in real life dating. Again, this doesn't affect everybody. But, I myself, as well as friends and family, have had run ins with people who make shallow decisions because real life dating scares them. I honestly get so much more thrill out of mustering up the courage to go talk to a girl. I don't care if I get shot down. Knowing that I was able to do that is already a great reward. What happened to guys asking girls out in public? Yes it's down right embarrassing, but who cares? I've had way more success in real life situations. And I hate waiting 1-3 days to see if a girl will respond to my message only to have her say no or just never respond.

u +1 y1. Some people think that online dating means you NEVER meet the person IRL! All of their criticisms are based on that misunderstanding. Online dating apps are just a way to make an initial introduction. If both people are agreeable, you exchange phone numbers, talk a little bit, and then you meet IRL. . . and from that point forward it's just like traditional dating.
2. "Dating online allows people to be dishonest." I've had women lie to me in person. Liars are going to lie whether it's online or in person.
3. I have met many nice ladies online, had many first dates, and quite a few led to second dates. And that is the measure of whether it works. If you finally meet and want to have a second date, then online dating was a success.
4. People who don't understand how to date will be bitter about dating whether it is online or in person. Listening to criticisms from the butthurt crowd is a mistake. Look at the statistics and you'll find that it is the most common way now that people meet their eventual spouse.00 Reply
+1 yThey work if you're willing to put in the work and figuratively "kiss" a bunch of frogs to find your prince charming.

+1 yGirl you’re 20. You don’t meet anyone to date in person?

I do but I don't know I’m not into them 🤷♀️

Hmm then how would you know you’re into the people online? And there’s plenty of catfish online too

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yI think women can have better luck on them, if they have patients and can weed out all the unwanted guys and messages you'll get (many women get overwhelmed and leave or don't go on). But not the apps or sites fault, just the immature people that use them. And society we live in, where ghosting (especially online), is "normal". But there are some serious people looking, but they're hard to find and no guarantee they'll talk to you lol. For guys it's a complete waste of time though and the complete opposite experience than women have.

+1 yI did an experiment, traveling up and down the West Coast with Tinder and Bumble.
I did the paid subscription for both.
I wanted to see how much sex I could get from one area to the next. I had so many matches, especially in bigger cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle, etc.. that I could've had sex with at least 10 biitches every night! It definitely works!00 Reply - 312 opinions shared on Dating topic.
+1 yIn graduate school, I considered gleaning data from dating apps to show how much people lie on line. Women are obsessed with height. The median height got an American man is 5’ 9.2”. One one site, 85% of men said they were at least 5’ 10” and 50% said they were over 6’. On a site for Russian women, 96% said they didn’t smoke. Russians smoke like chimneys.
Generally, self reported data was about a standard deviation off where it should have been.00 Reply - 414 opinions shared on Dating topic.
+1 yDoesn't really work. I think you have to be really handsome or perhaps muscular as a man to be successful on dating apps, you feel like you're being put through the meat grinder. I heard one guy say that you need to make your opening line interesting because she has at least a handful other suitors. Girls can afford to be cruelly picky because there's often a horde of dicks banging on her gates to be let in.

Some are picky because of their pie-in-the-sky fantasy expectations.

@MikeInHawaii Also that
+1 ymost have been corrupted by modern hookup culture which promotes lust and self pleasure over that of a sexual partner. a relationship should ideally be built on love and pleasing your partner more then yourself.
00 ReplyNot at all... Don't believe on someone who you meet on dating app... There are 100% chances that person is lying about something...

+1 yNot for me. I got no attention and found no one impressive anyway. Plus most sites required payment to interact and are known to be full of bots.
It’s possible to get super lucky with it, but I personally have not found any success.00 Reply Unless you're a top-tier guy in my opinion they don't work for men. All the women go for the same handful of dudes.

00 Reply 5.8K opinions shared on Dating topic. Yes for some people that is a very good option. Hence yes, it seems it does work for some people.
00 Reply2K opinions shared on Dating topic. They can work, but it’s almost always the case the girls prefer to hook up with dude’s they can’t have and try to force a relationship from it rather than actually dating on their level
00 Replyafter i thought... i now would not be in a relationship before we both met at least once... so dating apps are useless...
