Datings app are an interesting thing because they help you to meet new people and personally I love to meet new people, you can even find love through them, you just need a few cute photos, share some of your interest and the magic is done.

I have never been part of one of this app, don't get me wrong, they have cool features, like the fact that you can match with people basen on your own preferencies.

But like all the apps they have their pro and theri cons:

Pros:

you can meet new people;
you can chat when you want;
you can use filters to match just with people of your gender, opposite gender, different ages etc;
and in the end, i find them an intersting tool in the end of shy people, becase they can start conversation in a way that it's easier than a face to face conversation.

As much as I love this features, there are multiples that I hate:

People tends to judge you jut by some photos;
ghosting people is very common;
you can find people who harras you by sending unsollicited picture;
and one of the worst things for me is that there you can meet a lot of catfish, you can't be 100% sure that the person you are talking with is legit.

This can also be dangerous because you can find pedo or fraudulent accounts, an example is the Tinder Swindler ( there is a documentary on netflix, you should check it out.)

To sum up, dating apps have both advantages and disadvantages, so it’s best to enjoy them, but be carfull to what you post and to whom you share it.

I've dated a fair bit from dating apps. 2 of my partners were from them. One from Bumble and one from Hinge. I've had several dates from dating apps as well. It's not all bad. There are many people who have found their partners on dating apps. But it is extremely frustrating nowadays. It's like sticking your hand into garbage and trying to find something of value.

I agree with all the pros you've mentioned.

Now I'll address the cons. People will always judge others based on their appearance. That doesn't change because it's a dating app. It happens in the real world as well and is usually a large factor in whether someone approaches someone or not. They have to like their appearance and their vibe/demeanor.

Ghosting is definitely common, and I think that it's a pretty low class thing to do. It's very easy to let someone know you're no longer interested in continuing the conversation because you don't think you're compatible. If they get offended by that truth and can't respect it, that's their problem, but you've done yours by communicating that, so you can give them their closure. However, that fact will not make everyone act that way and that's just something you have to accept. People have different levels of maturity and emotional intelligence/empathy.

And finally catfishing. A simple way to find out if someone is catfishing you is to video call them before going on a date. That way you know how they look and speak. Although I will say that with AI progressing nowadays, there will be an increase in scams over video calls, so just be wary of it. AI is in its prototype phase for now, so it's usually pretty easy to tell whether it's AI or not, but just be wary of that in the future.

I have started to fill out the profile page. But that's about it. I just don't think they are for me. I do love meeting new people. I have had a couple LDR. That were really good but the distance and in another country and it just to much if she would had been in America then for sure but have two layovers in to country's the her country

I tried plenty of fish, bumble and okcupid. Unfortunately most only want to meet me for sex, not for a relationship. And some scammed. But the fairytale were too bad and it was too fast asking for money.

I dont want tinder - that is for sex dates well known.

It is so hard to find people in real life. Was easier years ago.

Now people watch their phone instead looking and respecting others on the street. Earphones instead of talking...

Less events where you can meet people every weekend.

I wish I could find a good place to get to know someone.

I spoke to my youngest son, 30 years old, about using a site that costs money to eliminate much of his completion that just creates noise and churn. He hasn’t been on the other sites in some time and just living his life but I want him to have a family. I asked Grok and said he was 6’2”, 30, low 6 figures income, Masters degree in Tech and Grok was strongly pushing MillionaireMatch. I was surprised but he will obtain that moniker before he is 40 I would guess. He would have his income verified by the site. Half of the women do that as well which would eliminate the gold diggers I would think. I think he should try it but I don’t know if he has.

I have never used one and have no intention of ever using one.

I'd much rather meet people in real life since they have much less opportunity to use deceptive techniques. For example, in photos, people can select their best angles and other things, but the same can't be done as effectively in real life. It also seems like people are artificial in the descriptions of themselves, which is another thing that can be avoided by meeting someone in real life instead. In addition to those previous points, I have no intention of putting images of myself online or fabricating an artificial persona for myself.

they're shit. mosly there to convince you to pay for their "service" which is really not a service but instead they hide core functionality that is already easily financed with adds behind an additional paywall, to bank on your misery. it's goal is not to find you a mate.

Risky places, fake accounts, lots of premium sites asking for money, works in few countries not every, so local girls aren't found there. So it never worked for me. I'd rather find a girlfriend on some other platform instead of dating apps. 😒

If you’re not a chad then dating apps are useless for you and actually are worse. Simply because its even more driven by looks, whereas if you meet in person you at least have a chance to show your personality and still attract them.
