How do I get over the nervousness around a guy?

One technique is to learn a flaw or two of his. The less you see him as perfection and the more he is seen as a normal guy the more comfortable you will feel around him

I hate gossip about myself or others so I don’t share much about myself until I know what the person I’m speaking to is like. The guy is a senior manager in the company I work for. He’s been chatting to people in his office and mine about me. It has caused my managers manager to make up lies about me. He is senior to her.

That’s unfortunate. Then you have your reason to not like his character and shouldn’t feel nervous around him. Sadly office politics causes that kinda gossip

Yes it’s a shame we both liked each other and nothing will happen because of all the people involving themsleves
