Dated him earlier this year but he and I were not at good places and I ended it because I knew he was nervous about continuing and he was holding back on opening up and i wanted more a connection. We also tried to have sex and it was pretty terrible haha.

Continue to current day. I made a bumble profile and I found him on there. I didn't swipe left or right. The next day he walked past my workplace and just looked. (Haven't seen him since) I feel like if anything I need to make the move because he is shy. I am still interested but again he held back last time and just wanted to hookup with people.

His also updated his profile now, it was previous pretty standard, likes music, hanging with the boys stuff, now all of it is into loving superheroes and marvel, that's what mine is. Haha. Help

Honestly I wouldn’t double back. If he wasn’t ready at the beginning of the year, I highly doubt he’ll be ready halfway through it — at least not for you, and I don’t say this harshly. Thinking that he’s nervous to date, too shy, etc etc are truly just excuses you’re creating in your mind to justify giving him another chance, which he may not even deserve. If your desire is to connect with someone on a deeper level and build something, then keep being patient and wait for a guy who meets your standards from the start by having intentions that align with what you seek. I know the dating scene can be bleak, but you’re much better off on your own, rather than giving this man another chance to disappoint you with his inability to commit.

Personally I wouldn’t reconnect with him at all if he reaches out, at least not romantically. I hate to bring sex into the mix, but if he’s a guy that just wants to hook up with women, I think it’s safe to assume that would be his motive to contact you again, since you’ve already done it. I’m sure that seeing him often and hearing he’s asked about you makes the situation feel complicated or awkward, but that doesn’t mean he is the right person to invest more time into.

He may be genuinely shy or he only pretends to be or he may be he's interested in someone else. The decision is yours to make if you feel you can make things work out between the both of you.
