Should I continue seeing this guy?

Question

He’s 38 and I’m 26 and he told me he usually doesn’t date younger than 26.
I don’t know a ton about his past relationships I would think maybe at that age he’d have more history.
He’s really quiet and not a good conversationalist. I feel really bored. He’s nice and respects me though so that’s important.

What's important with that age difference, with anyone, but especially that age difference, is not only relationship goals (both looking for the same thing), but future goals (wanting children for example, etc), and lifestyles (what you guys like to do in your spare time, such as going to bars, or staying home). Often these are very different with age gaps like that. But also, you're already "bored" and you're only dating! And it's early. So to me, that's a huge red flag already. Doesn't matter if he's a "good guy" that treats you right. You'll end up leaving or cheating anyway eventually because "you're bored". Best to just end it now before feelings come into play and it becomes WAY more difficult. If you weren't "bored", I'd suggest just giving it more time and continue dating, but because you're "bored", just end it now. Don't waste your (or his) time.

The age and past relationships are irrelevant. But you say you find him boring. Could you see yourself dealing with him long-term? If you think you would get bored then you should probably move on.

On the other hand, if you have enough stimulation in the rest of your life, you may be able to live with boring.

I don't know what his problem with women younger than 26 is other than their maturity level, but I know most guys would happily date anyone younger than them, especially a lot younger

Only you can answer that question, maybe he's had bad experiences in the past and over time he will open up more? Have anything better to do?

Then leave. If you’re bored why is this even a question. He’s not going to change later on down the road. It can be expensive to go on dates, so save the money whether it’s you or him paying, break up.

But if you are going on date 4 and you need to carry on the conversation you might just have to ghost him to see what is up because if you want to move forward you may not want to waste your time with someone who refuses to open up
