So I went on two dates with this guy, and on the first day he tells me that both his parents were alcoholics and he seen way too much, that he should’ve seen, also his mom died from complications of alcoholism. I’m afraid that he’s gonna have mommy issues and be mean to me, like my ex fiancé.

That's some heavy stuff for a first date, dude must've really opened up to you. On the one hand, it shows he's honest about his past. But I can see why you'd be worried about mommy issues.

A couple things to think about - everyone's got baggage, doesn't automatically mean he'd take it out on you. And he's aware of his family history, so maybe more self-aware.

I'd say give it one more date, but keep your guard up a little. See how he treats you and if he brings his past up excessively. If you get rude or controlling vibes, don't be afraid to dip out.

But it's also possible he could be a sweet guy dealing with pain in his own way. People can surprise you. Keep an open mind, but put yourself first. Listen to your gut feelings. You'll know if he deserves another chance.

Don't draw conclusions based on your fears and previous experiences. You don't know him yet. Give yourself and him time to prove or dismiss your worries.
