How did your parents meet each other?

My father was in lunch break, and he liked eating his lunch in the park. My mother was passing through, saw him eating and asked what he was eating. He then gave her some of his lunch and they started talking. They hit it off so she asked when he would be getting out from work, and that evening they went out on a date.

My parents never talk about the past with me but I think they lived in the same city at one point and went on a lot of upper hill hiking trips before they got married and when I was 5 I think my mother wore high heeled shoes. When I was small, my dad relocated to Canada while my mom and I lived in China and my dad and my dads sister had to bribe corrupt immigration officials tons of money, enough for 2 cottage purchases, before they agreed to sign the documents that would allow my mom and I to become Canadian permanent residents. And my grandma was also a challenge to bring over cause as new immigrants, all 3 of her North American sons were poor and living pay cheque to pay cheque without the capacity for further liabilities on their budget. Later, we all bought millionaire dollar homes.

That's a nice story about your parents.

Mine is not a good one. My father and his brother were both boarders in the house where with mother lived with her family. They rented out rooms to university students to make ends meet. She fell in love with my father, his brother, and at least one other boarder that I know of. Talk about the proximity principle, sheesh.

My father recently came to America for work. He had decided to join a community theater just to meet people. He was doing a production of Joan of Arc. They went to a bar for a cast party. There was a piano at the bar, and my dad sat down and played. My mother heard the flowing sounds of Debussy's Claire de Lune floating through the air. She followed the sound and saw my father coaxing the melody from the piano. She turned to her friend, Betty, and said, "I'm going to marry that man." The rest is history. I confess I thought my mom was exaggerating, but decades later when I met her friend Betty and spoke to her privately, she confirmed that that was indeed what happened.

And until her dying day, my mother would tear up hearing Claire de Lune.

My parents are from different cities, they both got employment in National Railways, my father as a machinist, my mother as stationmaster. So they met casually through work but they were only acquaintances since they were at opposite sides of trade union alignments (it was the Eighties, the time of riots here in Italy, machinists were the ones asking for more rights, stationmasters were on the side of bosses). They officially met and became friends because they went out with the same company of friends with a large group of young poets, writers and artists.. so they met aside from work and they started a frequentation.

Mom and Dad lived in the same apartment building for a while. Dad liked to BBQ and dink with friends on front porch in hall. Dad use to hit on mom when he saw her. Mom was crazy and didn’t want anything to do with him when he was interested. A year or so later he moves from the apartment building to live in a house with some friends. She misses the attention… 3 years from when they first met at the apartment building (year to year an a half after he left) she sees him driving down the road and stalks him with a friend. Then starts honking at him like a psycho on the road. He pulls over and talkers to her and her friend and invites them to a party at the house he’s living in with friends. Within six months they are living together and getting married. Women never know what they want, they always pass up the good ones and then regret it.

My parents met at college in first semester, it was basically love at first sight. Teachers and other students assumed they would eventually break up because they were young, but they never separated. They've been together for like 30 something years, they got married 21 years ago, for me they're the perfect couple, the best example of how couple love is.

My dad escaped from his country to Canada (on a long and dangerous journey) and my mom was able to fly to Canada too years later. My mom's uncle was friends with my dad so he introduced them and they got married. My mom was only 17 at the time and my dad was 27. My dad was from a farm, my mom was from the city and she liked to party w/my godmother. They took a drive one day up north to go fishing. Stopped at a bar afterwards and there was my father and my aunt and uncle. My mother has a big mouth, so she wasn't scared to go talk to my dad. According to dad, he was working inn a ditch and she went sacheting by in a fairly short dress (about knee length) and he got a good look at her goods and they eventually got married. If that's the true story, I don't know. Mom often laughed about it as if to say he's just joking but, she never did tell me the real story.

My dad's relatives had a cottage on the lake near my mom's parent's farm.
Dad used to have to go to the farm for eggs and produce, but at first my mom would run and hide because he was a hoodlum from the city.
Eventually he wore her down and she agreed to go out with him.
I think she was the 2nd girl he went out with.
Not sure if my mom ever dated anyone else.

So she does and all he wants is sex, plus on top of all that he had 4 other women he was "dating" at the time. A very fucked up relationship history and even got married and are still together.
