Why does my boyfriend not take me out on dates?

we have been together for 8 years. prior to covid we used to go out on dates and adventures now we don’t. he goes out with his friends more than he does with me. i spoke to him about it and he does nothing about it. all we do is hangout at his house and it’s so boring. i’m not expensive date by all means, i would be more than happy to go out for ice cream or go to a park and talk and drink beer but we don’t. the last time we did anything fun was when his cousin was here and we would go out than. and that was in July

Have you tried setting plans? Maybe that would prompt him to start making dates again as well. I totally understand wanting him to do what he used to, but man Covid messed up the dynamic of many relationships. People are still trying to either recover or separate altogether. Getting back on track is going to take both of you. However if you’ve already tried making plans or taking the initiative and he doesn’t then truly what more is there to do? can't twist his arm into being his old self and you shouldn’t have to feel how you are currently either.

Well it’s hard to say. I mean for one maybe he’s not into you like he used to be 8 years ago. Maybe you complain too much that’s why he wants to get away w his friends. A date to a man isn’t the same as it is to a female. For you it makes you feel special, wanted, loved, things like that. So when that doesn’t happen it makes you feel like you’re not special anymore. Makes you question whether he still feels the same about you. But to a man doing things for you or purchasing things for you is his way of showing his affection.

I'd sit down with him and have a serious conversation. Having a date night at least once a week is vital for a healthy relationship. It's not some stupid fad. If you stop connecting regularly, you'll drift apart and eventually be stranger to another to the point where one will break up. It's important to keep each other's life goals and aspirations aligned and have an idea what's going on in your partners mind and life at the time. This is a time commitment you absolutely have to make if you want this relationship.
