How to proceed with my crush who is now at hospital?

This is a mad story… We missed each other during 1 year and half. He was too shy …so I stopped contact a bit. He was supposed to leave for a 6months backpack trip lately and I noticed before to leave he started to rush things between us suddenly (maybe to avoid regrets?). He invited me to do some things together for the first time. He opens up to me naturally, tells me a lot of things about himself, we created some intimacy. The day to leave was approaching for him and…suddenly, the shock. He had a bbq accident and was burnt both legs quite severely. I think there is a meaning behind all this, this accident right before to leave for a long trip… Now he is stuck at the hospital for several weeks, maybe months. I visited him a few days ago…we talk but are both shy because we have friends in common but we re a bit intimated now when face to face because we know that we are both attracted to each other… How to proceed in this strange situation?
