Is it okay for me (17f) to date (15m)?

I recently met a guy in one of my classes who I find cute and is a nice and relatively confident person. I don’t know too much about him on a personal note (besides age, name, etc.) and I would like to ask him out.

the issue is the age gap for our ages. I know it’s not a big deal for a 22 year old to date a 20 year old for an example, but I know in the younger years even a two year age gap may be seen as bad or something that could lead to issues.

That is why I want to hear other’s opinions. Any ideas or personal ideas would be appreciated.

I liked a boy a year younger than me when I was 17 and 18. At the time it felt creepy when I turned 18. But honestly dont waste your time. Guys already are way more immature than girls so a boy younger than you too at that age is a disaster. Im scarred from that experience with that child. Couple years later he tried talking to me again (in the height of the effing pandemic) and it was clear he hasn't matured. Probably even got worse.

I had an 18 year old girlfriend when I was 17 and no one cared, but it's technically illegal in a lot of places for an 18 year old to date someone younger, so just be aware of that, although 15 year old guys are not known for having durable relationships anyway (longest I had at that age was three months).

It a quandary see here in the the age of consent is 16 and excluding a few circumstances mainly institutional anyone above that threshold is fine

When I was 16 I was dating 18 year olds and frankly drinking with them as well behind closed doors which legally was dubious

If I were you I would date him I'm 3yrs older than my boyfriend and believe you me he would be eating out off your hands that's how deeply he would be in love with you... it's just 2yrs nothing to worry about also you'll be able to teach him a bit in bed etc.. go for it.

If I was in your shoes I would wait to date him and just get to know him more to see how I feel after knowing some things about him. Because I won´t want your relationship to be bad I would want our bond to be good. I would make sure he feels the same way about me as I feel about him. I hope this helps you.

Yes, it is totally okay. But, @dustybiker made a great point: in a lot (? most?) cases, a 15 year old guy might not be nearly as mature as you so it becomes a maturity gap not an age gap. So, okay, yes, but keep an eye on ymthe maturity thing.

Not an opinion, but personal choice, I wouldn’t have. That was me though. Mental age gap is huge at those ages. 15 was still too immature for me at 17.

Just date? Yes. If you head towards something more, triple check the laws of your state. 15 is definitely under the age of consent in every single U. S. state (unless married), but some have close-in-age exceptions.
