Thanks guys I don’t want to totally give up on the person, but it’s getting real dull and real boring real quick. It’s like they’re trying to create natural conversation but naturally there’s nothing to say if you have nothing in common.

I stop talking to them. It's not going anywhere so why try? That's just dumb.
Also, some people really suck at communication
I used to block people like that, but I only block if there's disrespect or inappropriate behavior.

If someone is demonstrating a lack of conversation, I assume either they are not interested or they are not interested. If the communication doesn't come naturally and easily then I wouldn't keep trying to engage for more than a few days.
