"Alpha male" isn't a term I acknowledge as a real thing among humans
However, I have met men who fit my concept of alpha male and we clash a lot lol I think they most likely get along with submissive women or women who have anti-feminist views. Having said that, some men in my leftist, feminist circles think of themselves as feminist-friendly and have some toxic masculinity traits they haven't recognized or addressed yet, and I would think of them as bordering on the "alpha male" stereotype in some subtler ways.
It's not just being a leader in my opinion because men who usually have the nerve to call themselves alpha males have sexist, overly aggressive, toxic, often insecure underneath it all, can't admit to being wrong especially when challenged by women, aren't the best listeners, etc.
So it depends on how you define this term. I think some people think of me as an "alpha female" or "dominant" just because I'm a natural leader, assertive, logical in my thinking and not afraid of an argument, a doer, intellectual, talkative, etc. I've met men who are also that way, without all the other negative traits I mentioned, as well.
Although, there was one guy I can think of who is on the cusp of both these categories to me. He was really young at the time, so hopefully has grown up some. We actually had ridiculously electric sexual/physical chemistry. Kind of teased each other a lot and clashed in some ways too. We were roommates. I really liked his active energy, if that makes any sense. By the end of our lease we weren't talking anymore, but he would stare at me a lot. I did leave the situation thinking... should have taken the dick just to see what it's like 😂 He was trying to hit it pretty aggressively. Honestly think the sex would have been fire with him specifically. 🤷🏻♀️
"I'm a natural leader, assertive, logical in my thinking and not afraid of an argument, a doer, intellectual, talkative, etc." If you're logical in your thinking and have experienced being one of a smaller population that is capable comfortable and actively dominant... you must admit 99.9% of women you can straight up walk over and they will apologize for it. Lol. Sure maybe 70% of men are the same way but it's essentially ALL women and you are a very rare exception. Couple that with inconvenient biological truths... like the average man could slap the average woman and it would be far more damaging that the average woman punching the average man... as well as women give birth and are put at an inconvenience doing so... logically how would one not be sexist? Just saying. The sexist stems from logic. Knowing nothing else... I a capable above average man at most things am placed in a competition with a woman, shouldn't I rightly assume I will wipe the floor with her one way or another? Just saying that makes logical sense. Does it seem logical to question e every woman to find the one exception? Do you question every woman to find all exceptions? Seems like a waste of time.
@Magesform
Why would you guess that? My mother is very dominant (and in a negative way sometimes too in my opinion - she's very emotional and gets upset and doesn't listen in arguments - it's annoying), and she has been married for most of her life. She and my dad have been together since they were teenagers before they got married.
I'm not single at the moment, but I don't know what the future holds - I'd have to get back to you in 50 years. Whenever I've been single, it has never been because of a lack of options. & I'm more likely to have dogs, but cats have grown on me over the years. The kittens are so cute! But dogs are more fun because you can take them out and teach them to do tricks. Once I take the plunge, we'll probably adopt one of each over time. Gotta love the fur balls.

1. I'm glad you agree the vast majority of men are also not extremely dominant and can be walked over as well. The question is about how much social conditioning has to do with that, and I'd argue it has a lot to do with it. But also, I don't agree that it's as rare as you think for women to be dominant in their personalities, at least not in the West. What percentage that is would require more credible data for me to agree, as that gets more into anecdotes and differences regionally, culturally. My life observations in a very liberal, large, career-driven city will have difference results than some other regions in the country and definitely in comparison to other nations/cultures.
2. What does physical violence have to do with having a dominant personality and being a social leader? You could argue that many slaves throughout world history were stronger than their masters. Guess who's still in control though? And none of that has anything to do with personality. Brute strength alone doesn't really gain social influence or leadership, especially in the vast majority of life circumstances outside of combat in war (and not even then is it the only or major factor to actually lead).
@bamesjond0069
3. "Sexism stems from logic" is a mostly false statement. Something can be thought of through poor logical reasoning or still be logical in some sense, but objectively false. Logically valid arguments don't have to be true, for example. Logic is tricky, but anyway, I know that's not exactly what you mean, but just putting that out there. Sexism (policies, systems, barriers, as as well as prejudices) is illogical in a lot of ways, especially in today's world. If divorce rates are high and it's likely that children will be in primary custody with single mothers, who have a higher rate of poverty and struggle financially in that role, how would sexism be a logically sound conclusion? Is it logical to condemn significant chunks of your child/adolescent population to less opportunity, less income, mothers who have fewer opportunities in the workforce, less access to health care for their families, etc? This is the opposite of a logically sound conclusion. The evidence is stacked against sexism in this specific example, as a significant population of women are responsible for raising a significant chunk of the coming workforce on their own. Not only is it anti-human and lacking in compassion to supports sexism in its many forms that will affect these womens lives, but it also arguably makes little economic sense and is objectively bad for the country. Usually, logical minds understand the significance of having a well educated workforce and children need all of the above to thrive, including male children. Sexism here fails to meet the highest standard of logically sound conclusions, given the enormous bodies of evidence on what families look like a modern context in Western countries.
4. Your last few lines sound like incomprehensible drivel, so I'll just end my points here.
@RomanticRealist
1. I think social conditioning is influential however i think it's irrelevant in terms of what we're talking about because no level of social conditioning has risen to the level of completely changing submissive people into dominant and vice versa. I see little evidence of that. I have lived in one of the major metro areas of the US as well as small town country. It's not much different. A woman who has a career and pays her own bills is no more dominant than anyone else. Women really try hard to "act" dominant but at the end of the day they essentially all fall very short.
2. I'd imagine you're somewhat sheltered or oblivious. Can a man stare at you say something maybe when you're walking to your car at night and you would be scared, run, whatever... even without physically touching you most men can make women behave a certain way if they are so inclined. To him it could just be a joke even and to you its a huge deal. Or what if a man just stands in a doorway you want to pass through and refuses to move? Maybe he even says "just try it bitch" in a serious voice. Clearly there is power in being physically dominant. Master slave example is irrelevant because there is no all or nothing factor that trumps everything in categorizing this.
3. You're talking about sexism of specific political policy. I'm talking about sexist individual course of action. I will blanket bet on men 100% of the time when it comes to earning money, building things, leadership or physical strengths and I will win those bets the vast majority of the time. That is the only logical course of action. If you want to bet on women feel free to lose.
4. Is the same point as above. One exception does not make the rule wrong, it's just an exception. Not sure how that's confusing.
My ex thought he was alpha but he didn't empower me, he stifled and suffocated me.
He couldn't exist being successful if I were successful and popular too.
I didn't realise how dim my light was when I was with him, until I reconnected with my father again.
A real alpha is my grandfather, he met my grandmother in their teens, promised he'd send for her from Jamaica to which he kept, married and bought a house together a year later.
They've been married 61years and counting.
He worked everyday to provide for their family of 8, according to my mum attended every one of the things they had going on at school, and never once remembers him attending anything without my grandmother. If she was sick noone went.
I have had many serious and heartfelt talks with my grandfather. We talk about life and morals and he teaches me skills like painting, drilling, baking.
He is confident in his abilities but he is also able to understand there are many things he doesn't know, so what he doesn't know he learns from me and who ever else he can.
He gives praise when necessary, he is a dignified man. But never too proud.
He is handsome, he is strong, oh boy yes he cries but no way does that make him weak. That makes him the biggest Alpha there is...
Thank you for mho x
Sort of. Among humans, “alpha” is fictional. It’s just something dumb people say to excuse their piss poor choices and worse behavior. If you examine traits common to alphas among other species, we’ve marginalized people with those characteristics. So if you REALLY want to meet an “alpha”, go to prison. You’ll see a bunch of them doing what they do best.
Many generations ago, human beings evolved beyond that alpha nonsense when our brains developed. The best of us realized cooperation was superior to hierarchy in every conceivable way. We bred out the “alphas”. Now those aberrations end up in prison or dead. Hopefully before they reproduce.
They used wolves for that but ironically enough there is not even alpha wolves in nature, it was skewed research that didn't reflect reality.
Stop it with the dangerous messaging.
They don't exist. Nobody is superior to another person. Society refuses to learn that.
You cannot sit here and say beauty is subjective, I have preferences, and all that and then go on to say there are alphas. No. I can be good in one area in life and suck in another. Human are beings of growth and change.
Enough of this alpha crap. Stop pretending like there is someone out there who has it all together and was just born superior to everyone else. Stop it. It's a dangerous message.

I’m straightforward and Aloha in a caring, steel backbone, man responsibilities Alpha
No, but I've met some real assholes!
A normal "alpha male" in reality- yes
An self claimed "alpha male", who actually uses that definition, but is soooo far away from that and just pathetic and always compares themselves to lions? Thankfully not haha
Like slatyb said, humans don't run in packs with hierarchal systems.
But if we call leaders "alphas"
Then most of the ones I view as leader material are either dead, or hard to contact, so no.
I would count myself, but despite having useful ideas, I hate being in charge of other people, and I hate teir based roles in general.
To me it's the artists, the animators, the inventors, the coders, the engineers, the physicists, the astronomers, the wildlife caretakers, the zookeepers, the environmental conservationists, the entertainers.
Nerds run the world.
This is probably my favorite "alpha" (based on the above, not based on what society refers to as "alpha males" in most cases)
every time i see a man talking about "alpha males", i see a narcissistic douchebag with a god complex who thinks they are better than everyone else tbh xD
yeah i see that a lot in higher educated folks. the higher they get in the educational food chain, the more they think they're an expert in everything. like i recently had a very bad argument with someone who has a Phd in chemistry while i only have a masters in social science... and he thought he was right and i was wrong because he had a phd and i only had a masters but the topic we were talking about was not chemistry but society xD
Yep I hear ya... thought you would enjoy the clip lol
Nope, not a true alpha male, ones that excelled in certain aspects but not others. I’d love to meet a true alpha male so I could step down sometimes and just enjoy the total security! 💗
What do you mean by a "real alpha"? Humans don't run in packs, so there is no analogue to alpha males in animal packs To me "alpha" means a leader other competent people willingly follow. I have personally met a few in my career. I would also include elite solo performers in any field.
One thing I have noted: any self-proclaimed "alpha" is usually someone of low status. Leaders have no need to boast, they just do it.
Never really tried to define what an "alpha male" would be to me. If the model is some sort of John Wayne character I'e seen some people that seem to be trying to channel that sort of feel... but no, never have and don't really think that's a useful person to be.
Yes probably I´ve met true leading and responsible men in life. I think the classification of guys in alpha/beta/omega or sigma is often said too quickly therefore I don´t like those terms.
Nevertheless there are guys that either learned or naturally have a talent for leadership as they are also stronger in character and physics and have a higher self-confidence. So I´d rather describe a list of skills.
Only when I was John the Savage in a previous life in the Year AF 632. It was then that I met Helmholtz Watson who, not only was an Alpha, but was an Alpha Plus! As a penalty for my crimes, I was killed and sent back in time to be reincarnated to live in a world of savages kept dysfunctional by the GOP.
No, I have not ever met a real life Alpha Male before. With time travel, it is impossible to meet myself. 😎
But really, no.
I'm a grown-up...
don't deal with childish douchebags tell tale stories...
My dad, brothers & husband are, in my opinion, alpha males.
People who personally know them have all concurred.
I have met a Gamma male once, he was radiating!
P. S.: Someone call 911 on that guy for abduction.
Yep loud arrogant and confident.
Leadership skills but dominating and bossy always in the dog house. Talking over people yelling.
Strong but fat strong
what do you mean by alpha male? You just asked a question and kept it blank.
It's whatever you think one is not me.
No your answer is unintelligle... You need to define what an Alpha male is for yourself then say YAY or NAY. If you choose not too great move on to another question on GAG that best suits you.
Thanks for your comments. i still get paid
Every dollar
You're just now figuring that out lol
They don't exist. It's a term for assholery. I don't recognize such a childish meme in the vocabulary.
They do exist... someone sounds a bit jelly.
Yeah, nah. y'all just out of touch with reality that's all.
They're increasingly rare animal, cuz they can't survive in this "woke" world, unless they're MGTOW. My cuz is the card-carrying President and General!
Only the guys that think they’re alpha males only because they have an above average income and have had over 100 sexual partners but have never settled down with one. These are the same guys who will die alone with no legacy to pass down either.
Yes! What use are those? Lmfao
Anyone calling themselves that are putting blindfold on themselves. There is a diversity in the world and some men will attract more female than others but there is none that can attract them all.
Those childish terms don't really exist.
Oh they’re real pal
there is always someone bigger stronger fast and talented that comes along I know this from pro ball did this answer your question
Lmao yeah they’re usually very annoying and self centred. I met this one who said he was alpha male and I automatically cringed and he was so arrogant.
Yes. A wax figure of neanderthal man in Museum.
Every morning when I look in the mirror. 🤣🤣🤣
It's an annoying term, because it's like a few years ago people just started wanting to use the term out of nowhere and made it extremely relevant.
Kinda like how slang comes and goes.
Yes! Why call men wolves?
What do you see as an alpha?
I posted a photo of one lol

So a man with muscles who's good looking?
Sure that’s a good start
Then yes, countless times. You should have too.
A man who is aware of himself, who he is and where he is going. A man who is quick to forgive and forget. Who puts the needs of others before his own, not because he is a push over, but because he sees peoples potential and will work harder himself to see them acheive it. He is a man who gives credit and takes responsibility. Maintains his emotions under extreme duress. doesn't blame others. A real alpha never considers himself "number one" because he is always improving. He is a gentleman or, to quote General Lee, someone who is humbled when he himself cannot help humbling others.
yes I saw it demonstrated on a train ride. very impressed! I know I'm not one...
Yes, a few times. But I'm a Sigma male, so I am content with that.
I don't believe in the concept. I have met a few assholes however. Probably the same thing.
He's dead though. Took the guy who killed him, down with him though.
Yeah, and it isn't the loud douchebag, assholes that act tough & intimidating. It's those who make sure the group is in a great mood, is quick to help, and is reliable, only yelling when needed.
They aren't actually that common. Media display alpha males aways as ripped muscular male models, thats not true.
You mean Dwane Johnson? I've like said hi, but not really properly met him no. lol
Lots of wannabes, but not one who had a chance of getting me to consider following.
No. I think this is all mental retardation
Is that what an alpha male is, a guy who carries women?
Alpha, beta, Sigma etc is all. bullshit
You mean real as in not fake? Yes.
I've met several. They don't mind if they ruffle a few feathers.
Yeah. you're looking at him. Lol
Bill Gates, only room for one alpha ever
my dad.
Love it
Was your Dad abusive? Talk to me.
Okay so that would be okay with me.
No one has, they don't exist lol
Absolutely! My hubby is one! I absolutely love it!
Yeah I look at him in the mirror everyday.
Sure - that was in a zoo,
Yeah. Turned off big time!
cringe, no
lmao
agreed. just point and laugh lol
Every father is an alpha male.
Yep. My friend's dad. He's a badass motherfucker.
I have faith
Every time I look in the mirror.😁
Everyday when I look in the mirror
a mirror counts in my case
