Should I ask him if he wants to meet me?

When I was in school I had a really big crush on a boy. He was in my class but we never dated or anything. Yesterday I saw him on campus of my university. He texted me afterwards and we‘ve been texting since then. I would really like to meet him but I‘m too shy to ask. I don’t want it to be awkward. Should I just ask him? Or wait if he asks me?
