Does he want me to approach him?

I have a crush on this guy in my uni but have been scared to talk to him because I am really shy and he is ALWAYS with his friends. He has noticed me many many times since we have had so many classes together and run into each other on campus. It always look like he wants to talk to me but he doesn't and I don't think he is a shy guy at all.

A few times he walked really close to me and looked at me from the corner of his eyes but didn't say anything. During lectures he would always stare at me, even if he is sitting in front of me he would turn around to look at me.

I think he knows I am pretty shy but is he giving me hints to approach him?

there is nothing like he wants me to approach him. but he wants to show interest, and let you know there is something there, if you returned the looks and seemed interested in him too then its pretty much he wants to take a step but doesn't know HOW TO!

AND, because he is not the shy type of guys that doesn't mean he won't be shy approaching the girl that he is interested in. Most guys are afraid of rejection and that's why they don't like approaching girls, while guys even if they are not interested in a girl as a lover they would be friendly and treat her as a friend.

so I'd say if you want something go for it ...you have nothing to lose

Yes. Try and find someplace--like a study group/tutor session that he is not with his barricade of friends, and just start up a conversation. After one time, the wall-of-not-talking will be gone, and he should feel more conformable coming up to you.
