Because the internet has no conscience. You're most likely never going to meet that person so there's no penalty for anything you might say or do. A woman in my area would screenshot some of the vile comments guys would make to her when presumably she rejected them, and posted them on her profile. She actually tried messaging me once. I said no thank you. Not because I thought I would say anything bad. But who knows what she'd do if I ever made her mad.🤣 I'd rather just stay away from crazy.

A lot depends on what kind of dating sites you are on.
Some are better than others for looking for a relationship vs a hookup.
I found my wife on a dating site and I found the vast majority of women on the site were looking for someone special.
No clue about other men on the site, I didn't communicate with them.
