@VIVANT guy will think that he can treat a girl like an object if she does that and he most probably won't treat her with respect even if he says yes. Let him ask you out first if you would like to get a love with respect. Instead you can give him hints about your interest so that if he's interested, he might ask you out by himself

This might let him understand that you are interested in him because most guys understand these kind of questions if a girl asks them they will probably think she have feelings on him so if they're interested, they will definitely make a move on her or might ask her out eventually. Don't expect everything very fast instead try talking to him more and ask about his interests and about his personal life and opinion about love and relationships and what kind of girl he is looking forward to date.
