Do girls ever take the lead in a relationship or initial stages of dating/attraction?

I feel like its very rare. There was a girl a few months ago who was like that who would take the lead when it comes to showing interest but i was always too shy/nervous to do anything, and then she stopped probably because she thought i wasn't interested.

When a woman take a step forward towards you, she'd expect you to show just as much interest as she's showing. It's okay for her to take the lead, but you absolutely have to match the energy.

If I approach someone and he didn't seem to be interested, I'd move on, I wouldn't think twice tbh.
