My boyfriend called me another girl's name twice. What should I do?

We've been together for 6 months and yesterday he told me another girl's name twice. Should I be worried?

Most likely, I would venture to say it's an accident. Especially if you guys are just not "settling" into the relationship.

However, there is a very real and well studied psychology behind a phenomenon where a person's guilt (or fear of being caught) can consume a person's mind to the point they make slip ups like these.

But if he's really that shaken up over the situation it shouldn't be too hard to find out if your patient.

Probably a good idea to keep it in the back of your head for a short while.

Anyway, give him his Christmas gift and send him on into the New Year alone to figure it out... or call the next new girl either one of your two names...

We have no idea why he may have called you another girl's name. Is it a colleague he was thinking about? Is it his ex's name. Maybe it's his fucking sister's name you're being a sobbing bitchy drama queen over.

It’s not the worst thing that could happen. I know I had said another girl’s name one time but that was because I was thinking of something at work that I had forgot to tell a co-worker that was important. So when I went to call for my girl I said the wrong name, but that was cause the incident at work was on my mind just before I called her name. I guess the fact that it happened twice may be a little different than my situation. Under what context did he call you by another name? During sex? Both times, we’re they the same name?

Don't judge to quickly. Names of people we were close to can stick around in our head. This phenomenon does not mean your boyfriend actually thinks of another girl when he's with you. Just give him time, and don't make too much fuss about it, although you could tease him a little, but only a little just to check.

Was it the same wrong name twice or two different wrong names. I have occasionally uttered the wrong name to both guys and gals. It is usually because the conversation has brought up another person in my mind and I inappropriately used their name in my reply.

I think we have a strong filter on using another girl's if we are having sexual thoughts about her. So probably not something to worry about.

You could neutrally ask who is Xyz. Don't start of accusing him of cheating.

Well, my first thought is if this has just started this "other" female has entered into his life recently. She could be a co-worker or a friend's new girlfriend or worse. What I suggest is you start calling him by another man's name going forward. Trust me, this situation will resolve itself soon afterward.

If it’s the first time it happened and it was twice Just in one day, don’t try not to think too much of it, he might’ve just had a lot on his mind to the point where his thoughts were just a bit scrambled, if it happens again, definitely give him a hard time about it
