Why do some guys who are in a relationship say they are single on Facebook?

I saw some guys doing that. What is the purpose? Is it what I think it is?

Either they never update their Facebook, or they forgot to update their Facebook, or they don’t take their relationship seriously and want to keep their options open.


And not wanting to reveal their real relationship status is not an valid excuse. You can easily just change the setting so that no relationship info is displayed at all.


So the fact that it’s set to “single” when it could just display nothing instead, raises suspicion.

Either they want to cheat or they don’t want to face humiliation if they break up with their partners. My cousin never shows his girlfriends online unless he is engaged or she is likely to stay with him for the long haul cause if you get dumped by an attractive woman, you don’t want to explain that 100 times to 100 people. My cousin did that. When he was chatting with a girl online he set it to "It's Complicated". When he had a girlfriend in real life I asked him why he didn't put that he's "in a relationship with Ola". His response, "That's different". In his case it's cause she was in the country illegally and to this day I still don't know her original last name. I don't remember if he had it for the Korean girls or not. But regardless it seems in those cases for whatever reason, they are trying to hide it.

Some people, both guys and gals, leave their relationship status on FB as single until their ready to publicly announce their relationship status on social media. Others do it more maliciously because they want people to think they're still available and are always looking for a hookup/side piece.

Yes. Many men do this it's sad... my boyfriend has Facebook he doesn't really use it. But his private information is private as he did it in his settings so his relationship status isn't visible to anyone
