Why do guys on FB keep their relationship status empty?

even if they are single or in a relationship they chose to leave their relationship status blank. why is that?

i knew a guy who used to have his relationship status as single then he had a girlfriend so he decided to change it to engaged. he then broke up with his girlfriend and decided to set his status to private (blank). (he dated her for 3 months by der way if that helps lol)

also one of his friends decided to tease him about having a short engagement that he didn't reply to nor did he delete the comment.

i don't like this guy so don't say just ask him if he is single lol I just wanted to use him as an example of a guy who chooses to keep his status private from public view.

I've noticed in many cases girls treat Facebook differently from guys. Most guys pretty much use it as a means of keeping in touch with close friends and seldom post things. Girls on the other hand post about EVERYTHING.

Personally I can't be bothered to give a sh*t about my relationship status on Facebook. If it's accurate, inaccurate, hidden, or whatever doesn't matter. Nobody who gives a sh*t would ever look at it anyway.

In his case he made it private because he wanted his friends to have one less reason to make fun of him.

I'm surprised you would even ask this question about him after mentioning his friends made fun of him for it. That in and of itself is the answer in this particular scenario.

i asked the question becos his friends made fun of him after he decided to make his relationship status private they werent making fun of him before that when he changed it to engaged however people were asking who he was engaged to not making fun of him just genuenly cuirous

I'd say if he's not updating it then either he is mostly not available or he doesn't intend to look for a girl online - or at least appear like he is. There's always the chance that he's just not up to speed on what the web can accomplish and it didn't occur to him to go back and fill it out.

I don't have my relationship status set either, I don't have much information on my FB page at all because I barely use it. If people want to know how things are, they can always ask if they don't know. It's of no business to the people who don't know me well enough to just ask.

I do not set my relationship status. I do not treat Facebook as the megaphone through which I will spew the most intimate details of my life. People who need to know I'm in a relationship, know I'm in a relationship. It's so much simpler that way.

Or more likely, he's just been nagged into getting a Facebook account, but has no interest in actively maintaining it. Believe it or not, there is a whole world outside out Facebook, and some people have better things to do...

My point is, you update it when you get around to it. We don't obsess over every single f***ing change, the way women seem to.

It's just not that important.
