Do older guys feel more protective over younger women compared to women their own age?

It depends on the woman. Some young women are sweet and much like naive young men I look at it from a Holden Caufield point of view. I hate to see them corrupted by a harsh world. But some young women I can see the titanic already headed for the iceberg and it's obvious telling them to turn will fall on deaf ears. So you just got to let them hit it.

my knuckles still drag on the ground and I carry a club to protect a girl. Actually it would make no difference about age or sex if they are under attack. If I'm out with a female (regardless of age) I am more protective and keep my eyes open for potential trouble. If you mean emotionally you're all big girls and can decide for yourselves what you want!

The short answer is yes. It's just a natural instinct. The assumption is that an older woman is more able to take care of herself because she has more experience.

Younger women seen as more vulnerable, also seen as more valuable, so usually yes.
