Getting catcalled?

So women how often u get cat called on streets and how do u react to it or you choose to ignore it... i am a girl and mostly men around 40 50 cat call me or local drivers on street i tend to ignore them always but it ruin my mood entirely

It happens to me all the time and it's honestly such a huge bummer. But, you know what? I've learned to deal with it in my own way. First of all, I gotta say that I get catcalled by all kinds of dudes - from young guys to old men, and even by some women too. But you're right, the majority of it seems to come from dudes in their 40s and 50s. And honestly, it's always so creepy. Like, why do they think it's okay to whistle or shout at me just because I'm walking down the street? It's not a compliment, it's just disrespectful and annoying.

Sometimes, I'll just give the dude a nasty look and keep walking. Like, I don't owe them any kind of reaction, and I don't want to give them the satisfaction of knowing they got to me. Other times, I'll just straight up tell them to fuck off. Like, if they're being super aggressive or creepy, I'm not gonna just let them get away with it. So I'll tell them to back off and mind their own business.

I'll also sometimes just put on my headphones and blast some music. Like, if I can't hear them, then it's not really happening, right? It's a good way to block them out and just focus on my own thing. When I'm with my friends, I'll also make a point to stick together and watch out for each other. Like, if we're all walking together, it's less likely that some dude is gonna come up to one of us and catcall. Sometimes, I'll try to engage with them and see where they're coming from. Like, if they're just being friendly, I'll be friendly back. But if they're being creepy, then I'll let them know that's not cool.

I'll also make a point to call out catcalling when I see it happening to other people. Like, if I see some dude catcalling another girl, I'll step in and tell him to back off. It's not just my problem, it's everyone's problem. Lastly, I'll try to remind myself that it's not about me. Like, these dudes aren't catcalling me because I'm wearing something provocative or because I'm being flirtatious. They're catcalling me because they're disrespectful and entitled. So, I don't take it to heart, it's just a reflection of their own issues and not mine.
So yeah, catcalling sucks and it happens to all of us. But, we can choose how we react to it and how we let it affect us. It's all about finding what works for us and sticking to it. And remember, it's not about us, it's about them and their issues.

Thank u so much for putting it up so nicely this explains a lot and i feel less alone now knowing it happens with so many females in all different parts of the world i usually tend to ignore them but also use to make it feel that maybe it was my fault or something but you said it right it's about them it's reflection of their own issues

It's rare that I do now because if they do I don't pay them any attention or dress in a way where I'm showing too much but either way still get looked at so it's hard not to

True there will always be someone looking but I'm just used to it and appreciate the fact that I look good as long as they don't try to talk to me, stalk me or touch me I just ignore it because men are men and if they see something pretty they can't help but too look just like us women do if we see a good looking person. I just ignore it. So long as my personal space isn't invaded and I'm not then being followed, I'm ok

i usually ignore them but sometimes i come up to them and ask them whats wrong but then theyre not brave enough to look at me in the eye and go dead silent which is like, theyre actually pathetic losers
