I have been catcalled only ONCE in my life (so far), is that normal?

Catcalling is bad but it is strange when you hear how widespread it is and how many women (often not really bombshell looking women) experience it - daily... I am glad I am not harassed but it makes you wonder "What is wrong with me?" or "Am I that ugly?" ...

I don't think I am ugly (anymore). I do dress feminine on most occasions.
I live in a small town with around 40k people in it, I do visit other bigger towns as well.

I sometimes get complimented, usually by older guys because they're bolder and more old fashioned (which I do not mind at all, it's nice). Guys my age usually just stare at max.

I do remember being catcalled ONCE and ever since I have actually gotten better looking and it's just not happening?

Catcalling usually occurs when girls or guys are with their friends , , to me it is a compliment and it’s funny and silly at the same time , If I am catcalled I just smile whether I am attracted to the girl or not but if I think she is attractive , I will smile and hand signal for her to come here and talk to me lol but they usually just keep driving or walking because again they are just being silly with their friends is how I look at it , if I am not attracted to the girl I still smile and flattered that hey they noticed me , people that get upset and creeped out by it are people That act like their shit don’t stink , and have no sense of humor , I take it as a compliment , Most people are up in the air about catcalling , so a lot of people don’t do it as much anymore because they heard so much negativity about it so most people don’t do it as much anymore , stuck up people ruined it for the most part is how I look at it , Cuz the reality of it , it is actually a compliment that someone notices you and finds you attractive , people always assume the worst case scenarios when it comes to shit and that’s why this world is fucked up like it is , most people are selfish and only really care about themselves , relationships are falling apart because people are selfish and only care about themselves so everyone pretty much assumes the worst case scenario. So don’t be your worst enemy by selling Yourself short by not being catcalled , I saw a half picture of you and so far from what I saw you look like a beautiful girl , just most people today have a stick up their asses and think their shot don’t stink

Some behaviors are gender specific they should be neither promoted nor demoted nor punished. Quite a few time fun is taken out of it as it goes for cat calling. Most rules we make does not suggest any good behavior instead. They just say don't do this if you did you will be punished. When a guys sees a women and if he don't know how to express him self properly that is when cat calling happens I guess and same may go for profanity. Loss of words. Or you have much less time to act on or you are so frustrated you want to vocalize it and now it is crime what would you do? First ammendment right to speech then vocalizing your like for someone. How can it be cat calling? Where profanity is ok. Isn't that strange.

I grew up in San Diego and got catcalled a lot. Since I moved away I rarely get catcalled. I don't know how much of that is living in a different place and how much was the influence of MeToo. But tbh I kind of miss it. I mean it was annoying at times but it was also affirming.

I don’t even bother looking at women anymore. They may as well be robots or mannequins for all I care. There is literally no place where men can speak to a woman without running the risk of her making some post about how guys hassle her at school/grocery shopping/studying/at the coffee shop/in the gym/at a club with their friends etc. Like a younger woman? You’re creepy. Older woman? Also creepy. can't get a woman your own age, well it’s because you’re creepy. 🤷‍♂️

Women have made it abundantly clear that they don’t like the attention they get from men. They complain about being “objectified” or “sexualized” and that they should be able to dress however they want and men shouldn’t approach them. Why run the risk of ever making a woman feel uncomfortable? It’s really better that men just leave women alone. That way we aren’t bothering you.

Lol I've only been catcalled like 5 times in my life. Catcalling is not really all that common in good cities. Usually the people that get catcalled everyday live in the ghetto or some low income city.

Catcalling is mostly a thing among drunks and really low-class people like construction workers. If you don't pass by either of them that often, you shouldn't expect guys to be catcalling so much.

Not very often for sure but I remember I received one of the best reaction & compliment from a construction worker. He was so shy, he had to force his coworker to tell me I have super gorgeous hair.
So far good experience. Hopefully that won't change.

I wouldn't call that catcalling though. That's approaching. How else is a guy supposed to show interest in a girl besides approaching her? Catcalling is like a bunch of guys hooting and hollering at a girl. It's usually an ego thing like shouting, "Damn girl, u fine!" with no regard for how she feels. They're not actually trying to get the girl so much as show off to their friends.

I see! I think if you want to measure your attractive by guys' attention though the construction worker example you gave is more substantial. If you got a bunch of drunk frat boys driving by and shouting that you're hot, they probably only spotted a girl who looks sexy from a distance in a dress or sometimes just the first girl they see.

Catcalling has more to do with opportunity. "Optimum" opportunity time & place. If you live in a nice quiet small town, the catcaller will draw as much attention to themselves as to you. In a big noisy anonymous city, catcalling opportunities abound day or night anywhere. Also a catcaller picks his opportunities, and is NOT doing it everywhere all the time. Consider yourself fortunate.
