Do men really compete over women?

To the point where one will sabotage the other’s success with a woman if they love the same woman? I’ve been told by a man that that’s what happened when they both wanted me. That that’s how they’re not friends anymore.

Yes if two guys are in the same women that can happen, it could also happen that a guy makes another friend of his look bad in her eyes just to raise his chances. But I would say it´s rarer than two women competing over a man because many guys don´t have a clear defined type.
