Should I reach out to him?

I recently started seeing this guy who I really liked and he liked me too since he told our mutual friends how he really likes me and wants to date me. He has made me feel like im on top of the world and is such a gentleman with me I can really tell he is into me. However we went out 2 nights ago and I got really drunk and was being rude and bitchy towards him & even then he was still being very sweet to me. I said things i regret ( I didn't say anything mean to him or anything) and It was just drunk talk I was saying stupid things. The next day I apologized to him and told hom it won't happen again but he told me we should just be friends so we stopped talking and now im so sad and embarrassed for myself. What should I do?
