Whats the best way to dress for a first date?

Men and women can answer this, I want to see how y'all dress for the first date with your partner.

From scientific research I read done in Great Britain, women seem to prefer a business casual attire on the man: a collared shirt (Oxford is a good choice), chinos or slacks, a sport coat and dress or casual dress shoes.


Other research suggests red and black are the best colors to wear on a first date, with black just edging out red (red as a subtle accent color with black as the main is a good option). The worst colors to wear are orange, green and brown.


One other study, says that if like 500 or so women surveyed chukka boots were the most popular shoe type that women wanted their date to wear.


I know less about what is ideal for women except: red is the most attractive color to men, something that accentuate femininity but doesn’t come of as promiscuous or slutty is preferable, and as for make up men tend to prefer make up on women but worn in a way to look more natural.


If you want to lean a bit more casual, untuck the dress shirt and roll the sleeves, ditch the jacket, either wear the same pants or a dark wash/black pair of well-fitting jeans, and go with something like a nice pair of canvas sneakers. Also don’t go overboard with accessories.
