Usually a look and a smile will go a long way- But i'm going to give it to you straight physical attraction is going to be 99.5% of the battle on a first glance-ergo you will only be approached if that person finds you attractive-not saying a top model- just that you have to be attractive to him otherwise he won't bother.

It's a harsh truth but we don't approach women we don't find attractive even if they have a heart of gold, we won't allow ourselves to see that without knowing them.. So we won't make the leap, unless we are desperate for a friend maybe.
