I literally just had this happen to me. She was out with a friend, and they met a guy. Two days later I am on the phone with her, and this guy shows up at her front door and asks her out to dinner.

She says yes and she rushed me off the phone.

She calls me back an hour later and cannot understand why I am upset. It was not like she had sex with him. But I could not make her understand that accepting the invitation to dinner with a guy she barely knows was a violation of trust for me.

So yes, it is form of cheating to me. This was not some guy she had any history with, or association with, it someone she meets a day ago and he asks her out to dinner, on a date, and she said yes. When you are in a committed relationship with someone else, that is a clear violation of trust.

I would yes. I wouldn't want my partner going round chatting up guys or trying to hook up, that's a breakup for me.

The only time it isn’t is when your partner knows about it and is ok with it…?
