Is it common for people who only wanted you for sex to come back for an emotional connection?

I had a few casual dating experiences and they would have made it clear they were not looking for anything serious. Some of them I never saw again, but I had a couple try to contact me and trying to rebuild a connection after some time. Why does this happen? Is it because they gave up on some person and thought to contact you again because it is convenient or because they are lonely?

It could be because they are having a hard time with casual hookups that they're coming back to their previous partners; but knowing just a hookup isn't gonna work, they're willing to do a little 'song and dance' to get back into bed with you.

Then again, their desires may be pure and perhaps they're done sowing their oats and think you'd be a good long term mate. They preferred you over everyone else.

There's probably a couple of other reasons I can think of at the moment, either way it's a case by case thing and I doubt there's a single reason for the pattern.

No that is not common except for genuinely good guys that discover physical contact and emotion are linked in the male.

Personally I usually have sex with someone before starting a relationship because if the physical connection isn't there I wouldn't be able to love them fully. But also I do think that to an extent we're all lonely and just looking for someone we can have a good connection with and sex is a sort of bonding experience. If they're actively trying to deepen the relationship they probably like you and could see a future with you. At least for the moment.
