My manager thinks my coworker and I are a couple. How do we change this perception?
My coworker and I both began our internship in November/December 2022; his ends later this month, and mine in November, with that been said we carpool together and do spend a good chunk of the day working with one another and discussing our work, as we both work on the same items and in the same department, and he is our assistant.
Overall we have been good partners in completing our work, and my manager has always mentioned that we have a good bond and trusting relationship and makes these weird comments about us.
The issue here is that we are not in a relationship. My manager has also tried to separate us on multiple occasions; when we are talking to one another, she will intersect and just these weird behavioural changes from her.
My coworker has already told her during his performance review interview that we are solely platonic, so her entire scenario about us is false. However, she seems to still assume we are a couple, and even today, after work made a weird comment about our meeting to discuss a presentation.
We are 26 and 27 years old; how do we approach this? We are also the youngest individuals at work.
