Is this a sign of future abuse?

I describe my boyfriend as a very confident cocky person. He highly talks about himself and how he can get any woman in the world including a woman thats more beautiful and more successful than me.

A few days we were on the phone and he was in the drive through at this fast food place. As he's ordering and getting his food whatever, he tells me how they hire the most hideous looking people at that job. He then tells me I look like I would work there and when he first saw me he literally thought I worked there. He didn't even say he was joking and even swore to god that he was serious. It really hurt me when he said that.

No. I'm pretty good at picking up on signs a guy's possibly an abuser. And this is not one.

He's an asshole. That's the proper term for a man like that. Just an asshole.

But nothing that indicates a likelihood to become abusive.

But... maybe think about whether or not you want to be with an asshole. It's not as urgent a question as "is he possibly going to become abusive." But it's something to consider. 🙂

Absolutely. I wouldn’t want to stay with someone who treats me that poorly. Completely rude and egotistical. If I were in that position, I’d break up with whoever treated me like that.


I know that might be difficult to hear. But you don’t deserve to put up with that. You have to put yourself first, and do what’s best for yourself.

Maybe a sign of abuse, but definitely a sign that he's an asshole. You should dump either way. Tell him it's because he's too ugly
