Why do some consider it to be racist to have a racial or ethnic preference to choose to date women and men of the same race?

Because it is racist. It's not really bad, though; many people have a serious hangup about anything discriminatory being inherently bad.

Let's say you're running a pharmacy and Morgan Freeman walks in and asks you for sunscreen. While you're getting him some SPF 50 or so, I walk in and ask you for sunscreen. You see my pale-to-near-luminescent skin and get some where the SPF is written in scientific notation, quite literally giving us different results based on the color of our skin.

Is THAT racist? Yes. Is it reasonable? Yes. I mean, arguably it'd be better to give us choices, but a hypothetical only gives you so much wiggle room.
