I think you need to explain this situation better. It's impossible for anyone to read this situation as it is. Would an ex get in touch if they miss you even if they're with someone else now? Yes... definitely that could happen. Although that's a scumbag thing for him to do, considering he's with someone else now. But yes, an ex might very well do that. Ex's have certainly done that.

Would they post to make you jealous? Also yes... definitely that could happen. Ex's will do that sometimes, other times... someone gets jealous at posts that really weren't meant to make them jealous. It's just a bi-product of what someone happens to post.

So both of these things are definitely things ex's might do. But that's not all that helpful I would imagine.

Yeah it’s hard to get a lot of context into a small question, and I find a lot of context on here can put people off sometimes.

He did message me while he was away from her in a different country, they’ve only been together a few months as far as I’m aware. He is pretty competitive by nature but is also caring (although that can also turn to hate too as I saw that with his ex at times). I can message you to provide more context if you like.
