A guy visits a hooker and like the experience. He visits her many times and eventually proposes to her. She is so happy that she gets a boring day job and moves into his apartment. Now he wants to breakup, saying that her sister may not approve of a hooker as his wife.

Classic love story of guy pays for sex, thinks the sex is truly meaningful even though it’s initially purely a transactional exchange and outside of that, he would never have met the woman. She is looking to get out of the industry but has no solution on her own and suddenly he shows up and provides her the out.

Him being an ass then pulls the rug out from under her, likely resulting in her being forced to return to the very business she had hoped to leave behind for good. Whatever his excuse, he’s drastically damaging this woman’s life and shouldn’t have led her on for so far when he suddenly gets embarrassed about how they actually met.

he's a coward and hopefully he gets what’s coming to him. At the very least, he should help her out long enough to ensure she is able to thrive on her own without turning back to sex work. Hopefully he also refrains from becoming involved with sex workers again.

Moral of the story: The guy is a piece of trash. I wish all bad things upon him.

He is allowed to change his mind. Depending on where this is, she might be able to sue him for breach of contract... if she suffered any financial harm. An engagement is a legal contract, and breaking it has the same ramifications as any other contract.

And tbh if she doesn't expect marriage she might be able to find a half decent man to date but she will end up with a terrible man or just divorced if she pushes for marriage still.
