My boyfriend is weird?

so i can't take compliments to save my life right so whenever my boyfriend compliments me i tell him to top lying bu recently he's had this strategy where whenever he compliments me and i don't accept he says the opposite. like i woke up this morning i slept over his place i had work he was off but h still got up early and he sat there on the couch like following me around the room with his eyes then he said 'i like seeing ur face when you just wake up its all puffy u look refreshed and pretty' s i said 'thats a lie i look like a pufferfish' but i still gavre him a smooch tell me y this man says ' yeah you look like mrs puff from spongebob' like in all serious i said ' u did not' and he responds with ' yh i did u didn't like the compliment' shouldn't he be saying the opposite tho.
