It's selfish and shows you lack courtesy or consideration for others.
That is the #1 thing that makes me reject a woman. Not having courtesy in abundance and trying to date is like a 5'1 guy trying to play in the NBA.

Being with him isn't the bad part. It's that you both aren't on that same page. If you want to talk to him then convince him to alter his motives toward the relationship. Convince him to just have fun with this too and instead of trying to make it something bigger. Then he can find a new motive and you both get what you want.
