What’s a date?

Is dating just when people are getting to know each other? Pre relationship? I go out with my boyfriend all the time but we’ve been together almost 10 years, is it still considered dates when we go out? Every day with him feels new ☺️

I was with a woman, and she was on a trip and she met a guy. She insisted he was just a "freind" but he would come by her room, and they would go out to eat together. She would claim that since they are just friends it was not a date. I was like call it what you want then, it's a "Friends Date" but it's still a date.

Yeah, it didn't work out.

People act like once you put a label on something that the things you do are just a part of being in a relationship, so you are no longer dating. But honestly you approached ever thing as if it was a date one day at a time, then I think people would be more satisfied in life in general.

The intent should be to find a partner ie boyfriend/girlfriend. Just getting to know people aren't dates unless you see them as a candidate for that particular role. And obviously both need to be on the same page, it can't be a date if both aren't validating that fact.

Friends, family, lovers all make dates. Just means a special time when you get together with someone you want to spend time with or participate in some mutual interest. Longtime couples always make dates to renew their relationships, just as friends and family do.

I'm planning a movie date with my gal friend this Thursday to see something stupid like Guardians of the Galaxy. Was considering Renfield as it looked so campy. We hang out at each other's houses and talk and have lunch. My cousin takes me to breakfast. These are all "dates." My son and I had dinner for Mother's Day. We'll do something for my and his birthdays.

Dates are celebrations that spice up and renew relationships.

A date mostly means to me a chance to see if we both connect and if we have things in common and if we can get along and feel comfortable with each other. Once I dated for a while and still with thesame person then a date is not a date anymore to me because now I have a bestfriend for life and now it's common law friendship and my better half.

Multiple meanings. I can meet a friend for a lunch date. I can take a girl I'm interested in out on a "get to know each other" date. I can take a girlfriend out on a romantic date.
