A lot of women here are like I don’t need a man I want one I don’t need him for anything. It’s a really toxic obstructive mentality to have. These women are paying the price for it.

I imagine they find women more eager to marry in those countries because they very much do need men to survive. If a woman is single for too long in heavily conservative cultures, she often becomes a social pariah or is seen as an extremist, and rarely are they able to find a means of self-sufficiency within their own borders. Your friends can want a traditional wife as much as possible, but they’re also very pointedly taking advantage of a system that did the same to western women up until recent years. Did you know that a woman couldn’t have a bank account in her name or own a credit card until 1974? While some places allowed it before then, most banks wouldn’t without a signature from their husbands. Marriage back then was both a means of survival and entrapment. These days, marriage is more about commitment and companionship and there are fewer advantages for a woman to be married in comparison to being single, so whenever they do get married that means it has to be implicitly better than being single somehow. There are still plenty of advantages to being married for men, especially when you’ve been told it should be a life goal for as long as you can remember, but I also think men who think this way have stunted critical thinking skills as a result of flawed institutions they were a part of in their youth.
