I know some people are embarrassed to meet through family members but some are also embarrassed to admit to meeting through a dating app

Through family. They'd never introduce me to someone they didn't have a high opinion of.

That said, I'd never ask my family to do it, although my stepmother has sometimes suggested asking certain women out.

Their "friends" would hate me, so I go through dating apps

My family has terrible taste in the type of men I would like so I would go with the dating app. Both options aren't ideal but at least with the dating app I can choose who I would want to be with.

I'm curious who I'd meet if I let family set me up. But apps are more realistic and I don't want to tell my aunt I'm not into her friend.
