To show off and tell the whole world that you're rich and got an amazing life, and that you're not poor and your better than everyone else. My ex husband did that to me and our kids; and mean while we were soooo deep in debt that we collected bankruptcy at the end bc he spend all of our saved up money towards useless crap. So thats what I think but may be your situation is different than mine. But now I don't care if I have designer clothing or not, as long as I feel comfortable in my own clothes that aren't big name designers I am pretty cool with it. Cheeers

Yeah I don’t feel the need for designer clothes either. I can look classy and glamours in quality cheaper clothing AND budget better. To me that’s smarter personally. I just don’t have the need to feel like I need to prove anything anymore. I wouldn’t have thought most adults do really.

I don’t know why, and that is part of what makes it a problem. I can’t think of a good reason, but I can think of many bad reasons.

It’s more of a feeling since I am not the type, but I can try to think of some.
Showing off the girl, like the other guys here say. Not wanting to be embarrassed in front of his friends if they are upper class. Even worse, trying to impress passersby. What kind of guy cares about that? It’s also kind of weird if he knows about designer stuff. That’s unmanly.
Or, he’s changing her to be the way he envisions his ideal girlfriend, which means he could have a Beverly Hills complex (also not good). Controlling, like the girls here say.
All of these are shallow and will probably go farther than just designer bags (maybe even how she walks and talks, how she eats her food, etc).

Yeah I think you’re 100% right about it going further. More like a superficial relationship than being with them because he truly likes who they are, rather than who they appear to be.
