+1 yBecause they can't understand why a woman would wear heels, jewellery, corsets or other uncomfortable clothes, if it's not for their attention. Male clothing is based on what's simple and comfortable. If a man isn't wearing a t-shirt and jeans, then they're dressing up to intentionally impress someone.
So by that logic, what are they supposed to think when a woman spends two hours to make her face flawless, if she's not doing it for attention? To them, it would be insane to spend that much time on something you can't see, and you don't want others to see. It's just the way men are 🤷♀️20 Reply

+1 yI once put up on chapstick which darkened my lips and made them look better and then a good looking guy that all the girls liked sat at my table cause he assumed he was the target of my lip colour. He was good looking and smart, but he disrespected girls like trailer trash. I had to be rude to him even though I thought he looked good. I couldn't entertain that kind of conflict in my personal life so he always got rejected by me.

+1 yMen don't think that, at least not smart men. Stupid men think everything in life is all about them, including how all women dress. If you want to try an interesting experiment, ask 100 women including your friends, and random women: "Who do you dress for - be brutally honest", and see what responses you get.

+1 yI use to think women dressed for us, but then I realised the truth. Women dress for other women.
How many time will a woman say?
"Oh I can't wear that, I wore it last time?" Knowing full well guys don't remember insignificant stuff like that!

Great question! I think it’s a common misconception that women dress to impress men. Really, it’s much more about how we feel in what we wear. Fashion can be a form of self-expression and a huge confidence booster. Dressing up can be a way for women to empower themselves, feel good, and enjoy the trends that resonate with their personal style. It’s like when I pick out a new outfit and feel fabulous in it – it's about enjoying the moment and feeling my best! How do you feel when you put on something that you truly love?

+1 yBecause a lot do.. In fact men and women do things for each other.. Part of the reason I started working out like crazy is to get female attention and to get the best looking woman to raise a family with that I could possibly get.. The sooner people get back to realizing that men and women do in fact want each other, the sooner things would be smoother..
12 Reply- +1 y
That sounds pretty insecure. You should work out so that you’re healthy and comfortable in your body, not because women like it. For the record, the vast majority of women don’t like very muscular men
- +1 y
It is but we're all insecure about something... I do workout for those reasons, that's why I said "part of".. I also do it because I wanna see how far my genetic potential takes me.. But like. I mentioned women and men do stuff for each other.. We are social creatures.. And well, I'm kinda big but also look athletic.. So I'm balanced out..

+1 yA man that the woman is attracted too walks up to her and says “your dress is nice”
She’ll love it. Probably will flirt as well.
A man that she finds ugly does the same thing.
She will be disgusted.
In other words. Women don’t overtly do it for men. But when men they find attractive compliment their clothing. They love it. Take that how you will.19 Reply- +1 y
I agree to sn extent.
Women love to be complimented even if on the outside some women might be uncomfortable about it.
I personally would not be disgusted if a man I'm not attracted to compliments me. I am just a little wary about giving the wrong signals back (I. e showing gratitude that might be mistaken for interest).
Some Women... like me... don't do it FOR men or attention as such. We do it to mask self esteem issues and to give an air of confidence and it's also like a shield against other women who can be much more cruel and nasty to other women than men.
My boyfriends have never understood why I want to continue to dress "sexy" (just normal to me) when they have "caught" me. Simply because they think I dress to catch a man and not for those reasons I just stated. For my self-esteem and confidence.
And I also don't understand why men wouldn't take it as a compliment if other men find the woman they are with attractive? As long as she is loyal to only him? Which I would be.
- +1 y
You make some valid points.
However personally from what I have seen women don’t talk shit about other women to their face. They will go to someone else and show pictures etc. saying things like “look how terrible she looks”
I have dated a few girls that dressed somewhat revealing, I never cared for it. However, I do know that specifically my last ex she told me straight up she liked to dress that way cause she looks hot and thus gets flirted with and she liked it.
Let’s be honest here. Human beings are social creatures. Whether you’re a male or female. When people tell you that you’re hot or you look good, it will make you feel good. Why? Because it makes you forget about any insecurities you may have and it releases endorphins - +1 y
I think it’s a multi layer explanation to why this is a problem.
Firstly there are women that say that they don’t dress for men at all, full stop. Which given that there are many women that do dress in a way to provoke men to make advances on them and as a result get a confidence boost; it’s not consistent with the reality.
From a men’s perspective there are men that do think women dress in a way to encourage advances. Which isn’t true, just to name an example. Women would wear clothes that reveals more in the summer because it is hot. If they were fully covered by clothing they would burn up more. Unfortunately though men, when we see cleavage the primitive part in our brains immediately go to wanting to have sex and procreate. - +1 y
But civilised man can control his primitive urges and still act respectfully. And women can respect men will have thoughts if they dress provocatively and not throw a hissy fit if they get "complimented" by a guy they were not wanting to attract?
I dunno. 🙅♀️ it's getting harder to find a man who is confident to be a man and a woman confident to be a woman these days as all our natural masculine and feminine energies are criticised, mixed or waterered down with this new culture to "blend" and "equalise" the sexes...
Am I wrong? 😒 - +1 y
Yes true. But, are all men civilized? I’m sure we both know the answer to that question.
The insecurity crisis that is spreading has everything to do with social media. Social media is converting people into narcissists that think they can do no wrong and also only want to hear things that make them happy. Which I will add isn’t healthy. - +1 y
Yes you are right and very wise. There is a lot wrong with social media and Internet in general these days that have interrupted the natural order of men and women meeting and dating. Everything has become so shallow and based on looks. I'm guilty of that too when swiping endlessly on the apps I will admit.
*sigh* it's a big topic for debate. One I doubt either of us want to get into. But it's been enjoyable reading your responses! I do love hearing things from a male POV. Esp when clearly intelligent and logical. - +1 y
Needlessly to say I’ve grown up a lot, experienced a lot and learned many lessons. I’m also very obsessed so all those things allowed me to notice the flaws of society as a whole
- 5 mo
@Crimsyjo yes you are buddy. In the name of respectfully complimenting men are most probably misbehaving. You are attracted that doesn't mean you will assume it's for you. Women like to dress all the time. You have a problem with equality. That's what it's about. You incels bring equality in everything. Because womens te also human beings. We aren't beneath men exactly. So take your delusional talk somewhere else
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yUm, because we do? I mean not always but if I'm going on a date or to a club or something, I usually dress to impress. And it's not women I'm trying to impress.
44 Reply- +1 y
Sounds insecure. Most women aren’t like that
Opinion Owner+1 yMy experience is different than yours.
Both sexes do things to impress the opposite sex (or whatever sex they are interested in). For us that includes dressing to be attractive to men. Why do you feel the need to say otherwise? I don't get it.- +1 y
Because most women don’t dress for men. at least the secure ones
Opinion Owner+1 ySure
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI mean women dress for themselves only in the sense that they like the ego boost they get from the positive attention from guys. So it's for themselves in that respect, but ultimately they are dressing for attention from guys to boost their egos, so...
02 Reply- +1 y
So the woman doing he makeup and going shopping for an outfit to go to a baby shower filled exclusively with women is looking for an ego boost from men? Or girls who accessorize their all girls catholic school uniforms are doing it for men somehow? Ok bud
- +1 y
As I mentioned in my above reply. Women dress for their self-esteem and confidence. And much more likely to be concerned with what other women think of them than men!
If a man finds a woman attractive he's prob not gonna care too much what she's wearing.
But other women can be very judgmental and harsh to other women...
But yes. NGL. Any compliments or attention from men is also a nice ego boost 😊 so thank you.

20 Reply797 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. Fashion is derived by been seen from others. To think it's not one would be delusional. Next one will think a painting is not made to be viewed.
09 Reply- +1 y
I make painting just because I like making them. I also write books for nobody to read. In fact, I’d be pretty pissed if someone read my diary
- +1 y
I paint in public for myself. There happens to be landscapes in public
- +1 y
Landscapes aren’t meant to be seen. They are just there and people like looking at them. I, like most people, do things in public without the intent to be watched or specifically to be viewed by others. I paint in public because the thing I want to paint is in public. I eat in public because I want to be in whatever public place I am and I happen to be eating. I’m not eating to be looked at while I eat or for others. What are you talking about?
- +1 y
Maybe you aren't self aware to know this somehow. But literally everything we do in public is a reflection of our character and we all care about it even those who proclaim they don't, it goes to the very basics of psychology.
When you choose what to wear it's literally designed from other people who've made it for you because they think it will appeal to you because you'll want to where that out showing people.
If humans didn't care about this on a deep level we would all walk around naked still and not give a damn. - +1 y
I’m sorry you do everything viewable for other people and try to pass it off as psychology to delude yourself into thinking that amount of insecurity is normal
- +1 y
It's just basic facts, if you think it ain't tell me why walking around naked isn't common and normal. And why women cover their breasts I mean who cares right?
If you truly don't care then why is any of this a problem in society?
Go out and do it prove me wrong otherwise forever hold peace that you do care how people see you.
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yWomen dress to get validation from men. That's why none of you dress up on days you're staying at home. Lying isn't going to fool anyone. Even the "to compete with other girls" is just a competition for other men's validation.
23 Reply- +1 y
lol false. I don’t wear my nice clothes when I’m alone because I don’t want fur on them and because it’s more practical to wear sweats for lounging. Plus the purpose of fashion is to express yourself to the world, which isn’t the same as validation from other. We dont compete with other women, usually women dress up to fit in with other women. We most definitely do not do it for male validation lmfao
441 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. Because on large part, the sexes do dress to impress one another. It's just what happens.
212 Reply- +1 y
That’s not true. Maybe men are likely that, but women definitely are not
- +1 y
Lmfao you’re so full of it. Cite 5 studies that say women dress for men then
- +1 y
Oh Jesus... Look, any human with a large enough IQ can infer things without having to rely on studies for them. My apologies if you don't have this ability.
So no, I'm really not interested enough in this specific topic to go waste time trying to find the most recent & credible studies, read through all of them with enough detail to narrow down if their math is correct, their sample size is optimal, if their wording or conclusions aren't biased, etc.
Though I value the opinion of many well researched scientists, we don't need them to be sure about certain conclusions. In this case, dressing can be seen as many things. A way of covering up, a way of expressing ourselves, a way of better regulating body temperature, etc. We dress for many reasons. I am not saying that the sexes only dress for one another, but only that it is inevitable that we will, since how we cover our bodies has a direct correlation with attraction. - +1 y
lol ok bud whatever you say
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yThe main reason women dress sexy, get implants and want to look good is because of pretty priviledge. Beautiful women are treated better by everyone. It's possible some women are trying to attract a man but that's only one of many benefits of looking better.
02 Reply384 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. If a woman dresses differently in public and wears things she doesn't wear when staying home, it IS for others.
01 Reply- +1 y
Do you dress differently when you swim and go to work?
+1 yWomen inherently know that their beauty, meaning how attractive they look to men, is their most important asset and defines their value. Any claims otherwise are just cope.
08 Reply- +1 y
So you think women buy 3 tubes of lipstick or slightly different shades men cannot tell apart from because of their “value”
- +1 y
Yes, whether they are conscious of it or not. All the nitpicking about shades or whatever is just about competing with other women for that male attention.
- +1 y
Believe me when I say that women do not care about men as much as you think
- +1 y
Cope. You would all die if there weren't men!
- +1 y
I would mostly rejoice. RIP my boyfriend though :(
+1 yWell, if you don't, then what is the reason? To impress other women? For comfort, even though high heels can't possibly be comfortable (and they're certainly not practical)? Do tell! :)
01 Reply- +1 y
Because women enjoy looking good to themselves, or they are dressing for other women. I put effort into my outfit when I took all my AP tests in high school. It definitely wasn’t to impress the types of boys who took AP computer science A, Lol, it was to make myself feel confident. The other times I dressed up that weren’t for myself is because I wanted to match what how dressed up my friends were. I didn’t spend 40 dollars on a beach cover up that I wear for maybe 5 minutes every time I wear it so that a man thinks it’s hot, I spent 40 dollars on it because I think it looks nice and because my other one was not my color.
