How to be patient with a guy?

How to be patient with a guy when you are ready for things to progress but he moves a lot slower than you and wants to fully be sure about things. It is his first relationship and I have met his family, he says he wants something serious, but he will not commit.

I’m trying to be patient but it is getting tough because I feel as if I may be getting played. If I bring it up he gets upset and says I’m not respecting his emotions so I don’t bring it up but how long do I go with the flow before I require commitment?

You can't force someone else into your framework, nor is patience really helpful if you're making your stance clear, but he doesn't want the same thing as you. Like if I got with a woman and wanted kids, but she did not, I wouldn't try beating a dead horse, but would get with someone else who did want kids.

If he's dragging his feet, let him go. He isn't ready to commit to you.

Maybe in some time he'll understand and be able to commit, but you don't need to indulge his reluctance to be romantic.

Leave and find someone more compatible. I had to do that with my girlfriend recently - for more reasons than her slow pace, but it certainly was a big incompatiblity.

It happens. It's ok. Neither of you are wrong, you're just not right for each other.
