How do I be patient with an unemotionally available man?

I am just used to a guy showing me how much he likes me. This guy on the other hand has been hurt in the past by a girl, so he is closed off. He shows interest to me, but doesn’t compliment me as much as other guys, doesn’t share his emotions etc. I want to be patient with him, but I have anxiety, and I don’t know how. How can I be more patient?

First I commend you for looking past this and seeing that he's been hurt in the past (not sure how you determined/know this). But I'd say the biggest thing is to make sure he's improving. Being hurt and reacting this way is understandable for a person. But not healing or trying to heal is unacceptable. As long as he's working to get better. Trying to heal and improving you're good. It isn't easy. But if he has a brain in his head he'll understand loyal women willing to stick it out with you are rare.

Without making a whole thing about it, say something like " You know... it wouldn't hurt you once in a while to open up and tell me what's going on inside that complex and adorable brain of yours!

I don't know why you'd WANT to be patient with unemotionally available men. Why waste your time on guys that don't have room for love FOR YOU in their heart and don't put in much effort or just act nonchalant/uncaring? It makes no sense to me. Then you'll complain that all men suck later in life.

Well, in this particular case, I question whether he'll ever open up. And to me, that's too much work for an uncertain result. However, what is it about him that you like so much?

I mean, besides the fact that he is hot, I like the way he thinks. He thinks outside the box, which is attractive.
We also have a quite a bit in common, which I like a lot. For instance, we want a similar lifestyle.
